Activities
What makes Los Roques such an extraordinary place is the enormous extension of the calm sea, the presence of lagoons, cayos, beaches of bright white sand (coral origin) and crystal-clear water of unbelievable colours. The constant sea breeze, due to the NE trade-wind, is ideal for water sports such as wind surfing, kite surfing and sailing.
These are only some of the attractions the archipelago proposes to its visitors. It is a place without equal for fishing, diving and snorkelling. Divers will enjoy the extraordinary richness of sea flora and fauna as well as the variety of corals. The weather is typically tropical and steady during the whole year: rainfalls are practically not existent, the medium temperature is 30° C , while the sea temperature is about 25° C.
Due to the NE trade-wind the archipelago is ideal for sailing sports. For the ones who appreciate sailing, different catamarans and sailing boats are available, for one day trip or long time charter.
Equipment for Windsurf and Kitesurf can be hired a few minutes from Grand Roque, on Francisquì island.

Consequently there are no luxury hotels but a wide choice of posadas, all of them being rebuild of the fisherman’s houses. Posada Guaripete is one of them and owned and managed by Egido and Tiziana since more than 10 years. It has 8 rooms (7 double and 1 triple/quadruple), all of them with private bathroom and air conditioning. The style of the posada is simple, but comfortable. The rooms are situated on the low ground while the first floor is a covered terrace suitable for relaxing, reading or having a drink. The staff of the posada is made up of persons who work with the owners since many years. They all speak English, always caring to satisfy any of the guests requests.
